Textiles and Jute Minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak announced today that the government is committed to revitalizing the jute sector under the guidance of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting organized by the Department of Jute at the Shishu Academy auditorium, Narshingdi, on Saturday, Nanak revealed plans to host a conference for jute farmers by the end of the year, with the Prime Minister in attendance. The meeting brought together jute farmers, mill owners, businessmen, and other industry stakeholders to discuss the sector’s future.
Nanak highlighted the Prime Minister’s strong emphasis on the importance of jute and jute products. He noted that this focus was a significant part of the Awami League’s election manifesto and that Prime Minister Hasina has issued several directives to maximize the multifaceted uses of jute.
He further stated that the government aims to achieve self-sufficiency in jute seed production.
