Mymensingh Department of Environment raids illegal brick kiln in Haluaghat

Raihan Ahmed, Mymensingh : On 23 April 2025, from 9 am to 5 pm, a mobile court was conducted against three illegal brick kilns in Haluaghat Upazila of Mymensingh district at the initiative of the Department of Environment. The mobile court was conducted by the Executive Magistrate of the Department of Environment, Headquarters, Mr. Md. Abdullah Al Mamun and the prosecution was provided by the Inspectors of the Department of Environment, Mymensingh District Office, Mr. Mahbubul Islam and Md. Rukon Mia. Other members of the Enforcement Team of the Department of Environment, Mymensingh District Office were present in the mobile court. Members of the Army, members of the Fire Service and Civil Defense of Haluaghat Upazila and a group of police members of the District Police Lines provided overall assistance in the mobile court.On April 23, 2025, between 9 AM and 5 PM, a mobile court was held targeting three illegal brick kilns in Haluaghat Upazila, Mymensingh district, initiated by the Department of Environment. The court proceedings were overseen by Mr. Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, the Executive Magistrate from the Department of Environment Headquarters, with prosecution support from Mr. Mahbubul Islam and Md. Rukon Mia, Inspectors from the Mymensingh District Office. Additional members of the Enforcement Team from the same office were also present. The mobile court received comprehensive support from Army personnel, members of the Fire Service and Civil Defense of Haluaghat Upazila, and a contingent of police from the District Police Lines.

The mobile court conducted a drive against three brick kilns and imposed a fine of six lakh taka each, totaling eighteen lakh taka, and partially demolished the kilns of three brick kilns. With the help of the fire service, the brick kilns were extinguished with water. With the help of the Upazila Rural Electricity Association, the electricity connection was disconnected and all activities were declared closed. Such drives against illegal brick kilns will continue to prevent environmental pollution.
