B Mirror Report: Mostakur Rahman has been appointed as the new governor of Bangladesh Bank, succeeding the current governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur. The announcement was made on Wednesday.
Mostakur Rahman was promoted from Additional Director to Director of Bangladesh Bank in May 2024. Prior to this, he served as Additional Director at the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU), gaining extensive experience in financial regulation and oversight.
Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur was appointed governor by the caretaker government following the fall of the Hasina administration, taking over from former governor Abdur Rouf Talukdar.
Mostakur Rahman hails from Deyara village in Dighli, Khulna, and is expected to bring his expertise in financial intelligence and banking management to the central bank at a critical time for Bangladesh’s economy.
