Md. Ali Reza Joins Union Bank PLC as Chief Financial Officer

Union Bank PLC is pleased to announce the appointment of Md. Ali Reza FCMA, CIPA, DAIBB as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the bank. With over 26 years of extensive experience in the banking and non-banking financial sectors, Mr. Reza brings unparalleled expertise and leadership to this critical role.

Mr. Reza’s career journey began in 1998 as a Probationary Officer with Sonali Bank PLC, where he earned recognition for his work in Branch banking operations, SME financing, Corporate credit, Project finance, Foreign Trade Operations and Central Accounts. He later served in key leadership positions at Standard Bank PLC, including Executive Vice President & CFO, where he was instrumental in the bank’s strategic financial planning, budgeting, risk management, and the successful conversion to a Shariah-compliant institution. Additionally, Mr. Reza has served as the Head of Risk Management Division, Company Secretary, and Shariah Secretary during his distinguished career.

Academically, Mr. Reza holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Dhaka, and he is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB). His professional certifications also include membership in the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI), Bahrain.

Mr. Reza’s areas of expertise include Financial strategy, Tax Planning and Management, Budgeting, Cost Management, Profitability analysis, Risk management, Treasury Management, Business Process Reengineering (BPR) and Corporate Finance, among many others. His proven track record in managing financial operations, compliance, and corporate governance will undoubtedly contribute to Union Bank’s continued growth and success.
