May Day observed with due dignity in Tangail

Tangail Correspondent: International Workers’ Day was observed in Tangail with due dignity and enthusiasm on Friday (May 1), under the slogan “Healthy workers, diligent hands will bring a new dawn.”

The day began with a colorful rally launched by releasing balloons in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office. The procession marched through the town’s main roads and concluded at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room.

A discussion meeting was held there, presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Sanjoy Kumar Mohanta. Among the attendees were Joint Director of National Security Intelligence (NSI) Tangail district office Matiul Islam Chowdhury, Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Md. Robiul Islam, PPM-Service, Deputy Inspector General of the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments in Tangail Ahmed Belal, and Labour Inspector (General) Md. Abdul Malek. A large number of workers from various organizations also joined the program.

May Day was declared a day of workers’ solidarity at the International Socialist Conference in Paris in 1889 and has since been observed worldwide with significance.

In addition to the official program, different labor organizations in Tangail town organized separate events to mark the day.
