Masud Khan appointed new chairman of BSEC

Renowned Chartered Accountant Md. Masud Khan has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), the country’s capital market regulator.

The appointment was announced through a government notification issued on Thursday (June 4).

According to the notification, Masud Khan, who is currently serving as the Group CEO of Crown Cement PLC, has been appointed chairman of the commission under Section 5(2) of the BSEC Act, 1993. His appointment is subject to relinquishing all professional affiliations with other institutions and organizations.

Masud Khan will serve as BSEC chairman for a four-year term from the date of joining. His salary, allowances, and other benefits will be determined through a contract with the government.

The government said the order was issued in the public interest and takes effect immediately.
