M Mashroor Riaz is the chairman of capital market regulatory body Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC). He was an official of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He is currently the Chairman of the Policy Exchange Research Institute.

In this regard, Mashroor Riaz said, I have also received such news. But I don’t want to say anything until the order is made.

According to sources, the government is considering the names of four people, including the next chairman of BSEC, for appointment to institutions under the control of the Financial Institutions Department. The rest are Abdul Matin Patwari, Nazrul Huda and Mohammad Mamunur Rashid. One of them will be selected as the chairman of BSEC. But according to the sources, Mashroor Riaz is more likely to get the appointment.

Professor Shibli Rubaiyat-ul-Islam resigned from the post of BSEC chairman last Sunday (August 11) due to the recent political change. Two commissioners of the organization resigned the next day. Sheikh Shamsuddin Ahmed and Dr. Rumana Islam.

After the resignation of the chairman and two commissioners, the capital market is running in a leadershipless state. Same situation in Bangladesh Bank. Already the governor and three deputy governors have resigned. In this situation, the government wants to appoint the governor of Bangladesh Bank and the chairman of BSEC on an urgent basis.
