Market Index Rises, but Trading Volume Declines Further

On the third working day of the week, trading at the country’s main stock market, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), ended with a rise in the market index. On this day, share prices of 285 companies increased, although the total turnover in monetary terms declined, according to DSE sources.

On Tuesday (2 December), the DSE’s main index, DSEX, rose by 36.19 points, bringing it to 4,950 points. Another index, DSES, increased by 10.32 points to 1,039 points, while the DS-30 index fell by 10.57 points, settling at 1,906 points.

The total value of shares and units traded at the DSE on this day was Tk 379.73 crore, compared to Tk 415.90 crore in the previous session.

Shares and units of a total of 388 companies were traded. Among the participating companies, the share prices of 285 companies rose, 56 companies’ prices fell, and 47 companies’ prices remained unchanged.
