Madrasa Community in Shock After Student’s Death and Injury

Nazrul , Rajbari Correspondent: A 12-year-old student named Kanij Fatema tragically lost her life when a water tank at Hafezia Madrasa collapsed in Baliakandi, Rajbari. She was the daughter of Kausar Sardar from Char Sreepur village in Kalukhali upazila. Another student, 13-year-old Mim Akhter, the daughter of Jasim from Dahar Pachuria village in the Baharpur union of Baliakandi upazila, sustained injuries.

The incident occurred around 5 am on Tuesday in the ablution area of the Medina Hafezia Mahila Madrasa and Orphanage located in Baharpur Noor, within the Baharpur union of Baliakandi upazila.

According to local residents, Kanij Fatema and Mim Akhter, both students at Bahrpur Noor Madina Hafizia Women’s Madrasa and Orphanage, had gone to the ablution room to prepare for Fajr prayers. Kanij Fatema was killed instantly, and Mim Akhter was injured when a nearby water tank collapsed and struck her head. Mim Akhter was promptly transported to Rajbari Sadar Hospital for further medical care.

The Baliakandi police station has been notified of the incident. Upon receiving the report, officer-in-charge Jamal Uddin and SI Md. Ashikur Rahman arrived at the scene and arranged for the body to be prepared for burial. Officer-in-charge Md. Jamal Uddin confirmed that the body has been retrieved and that additional legal actions are in progress.
