Bangladeshi expatriates in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) can now send remittances directly to bKash wallets in Bangladesh at low cost through four UAE branches of Janata Bank PLC.
The service was inaugurated virtually on Monday, April 18, at a simple ceremony held at Janata Bank’s head office in Dhaka. Bangladesh Ambassador to the UAE Tareq Ahmed joined the event online and formally inaugurated the service.
The ceremony was chaired by Janata Bank PLC Chairman Md Fazlur Rahman. Managing Director Md Mujibur Rahman, Deputy Managing Director Kazi Abdur Rahman, and General Manager Mohammad Anis were present at the event. bKash was represented by Head of Remittance Md Zahidul Ahsan and Tanvir Mahmud.
Senior officials of Janata Bank, including representatives from UAE operations and other units, also joined the event virtually.
According to the bank, expatriates can access the service through Janata Bank branches in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Sharjah, and Dubai. The facility enables beneficiaries in Bangladesh to receive remittance funds instantly, 24/7, including on holidays, directly into their bKash wallets.
The bank also noted that remittances sent from Italy via Janata Exchange Company SRL have been disbursed through bKash since May 26, 2025.
