Janata Bank PLC has initiated a month-long Foreign Remittance Service Month to honor the July Uprising on Wednesday, July 16. During the inauguration ceremony at the bank’s head office, Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur officially launched the Virtual Remittance Service Month program. Present at the meeting were Janata Bank Chairman Muh. Fazlur Rahman, Managing Director Md. Mujibur Rahman, Deputy Managing Director Golam Mortuza, Md. Nazrul Islam, Ashraful Alam, and General Managers from the head office, along with senior executives and officials.
At that moment, Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur encouraged the banks in Bangladesh to implement this service, enabling expatriates to send remittances from home using mobile applications. He emphasized the significant contribution of expatriates during the July Uprising and advocated for the provision of special facilities for remittance transfers. Notably, under this initiative, expatriates living in the United Arab Emirates can send up to 1,500 dirhams back home without any charges through Janata Bank.
