Janta Bank PLC has launched a month-long Foreign Remittance Service Month to commemorate the July Uprising on Wednesday, July 16. At the inauguration ceremony held at the bank’s head office, Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur formally inaugurated the virtual remittance service month.
The meeting was attended by Bangladesh’s Honorable Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Tarek Ahmed, Janata Bank Chairman Muh. Fazlur Rahman, Managing Director Md. Mujibur Rahman, Deputy Managing Director Golam Mortuza, Md. Nazrul Islam, Ashraful Alam and General Managers of the head office, along with senior executives and officials.
At that time, Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur urged the banks of Bangladesh to launch this facility so that expatriates can send remittances from home through mobile apps. He said that expatriates played an important role in the July Uprising. He also called for special facilities for sending remittances. Under this facility, expatriates residing in the United Arab Emirates can send a maximum of 1,500 dirhams to the country free of charge through Janata Bank.
