BM Desk : In the last 24 hours, 41,989 cars have crossed the Jamuna Bridge. Tk 3.28 million has been received from these vehicles.
Meanwhile, on Monday (June 16), 10 days after Eid, people will travel to the capital Dhaka via the Dhaka-Tangail-Jamuna Bridge roadway. However, there were no traffic jams anywhere today. Traffic jams and slow speeds on both sides of the Jamuna Bridge have caused havoc for Dhaka-bound commuters over the last two days.
According to reliable sources, 41,989 vehicles crossed between 12 midnight on Saturday (June 14) and 12 midnight on Sunday. Of these, 19,189 cars bound for North Bengal have crossed. A total of Tk 1.6 million 51,700 has been collected. On the other hand, 22,800 vehicles bound for Dhaka have crossed. The toll on the opposing direction is Tk 1.67 million 68,500.
In this regard, Ahsanul Kabir Pavel, Executive Engineer of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority’s Jamuna Bridge Site Office, claimed that cars must pass through 18 booths, nine on each side of the bridge. Two booths on either side are designated for motorcycles.
