Indian Visa Centre Resumes Operations After Security Closure

After remaining closed due to security concerns, regular operations at the Indian Visa Centre have resumed.

Following a temporary shutdown over security issues, normal activities at the Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) located at Jamuna Future Park in Dhaka resumed from Thursday (December 18) morning, according to the Indian High Commission.

Earlier, a platform of several organizations linked to the July mass uprising, known as “July Oikya,” had announced a “March to the Indian High Commission” program. The protest was called to demand the repatriation of all accused, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and to protest alleged continued conspiracies by Indian proxy political parties and government officials.

In view of the announced program and considering the security situation, operations at the Indian Visa Centre at Jamuna Future Park were suspended from 2:00 pm on Wednesday (December 17).

Meanwhile, about two hours earlier on the same day, India’s Ministry of External Affairs summoned the Bangladesh High Commissioner in New Delhi to express deep concern over the deteriorating security situation in Bangladesh.
