Niaz Brahmanbaria Correspondent: The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized a large quantity of illegal Indian goods during an operation at the Mainpur border in Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria district.
In a press release sent to the media, BGB stated that early Friday morning (October 10) at around 6:30 AM, a special operations team from the Sultanpur Battalion (60 BGB), acting on specific intelligence, conducted an anti-smuggling operation in the Kasba and Mainpur border areas of Kasba upazila. During the raid, they seized a large quantity of high-quality Indian sarees and sunglasses, with an estimated market value of around 80 million (8 crore) taka.
Lieutenant Colonel Md. Ziaur Rahman, commander of the Sultanpur Battalion (60 BGB), said that the battalion’s operations and intelligence activities are ongoing to ensure border security and combat border crimes such as drug and goods smuggling.
As part of this ongoing effort, the contraband items were seized during a raid in the border area.
