The Honorable Prime Minister of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Tarique Rahman visited the stall of Bangladesh Krishi Bank set up at the Tangail Municipal Park on the occasion of the inauguration of the “Agricultural Card Distribution Programme and Agricultural Fair 2026”, organized by the Department of Agricultural Extension. During the visit, the Honorable Prime Minister was briefed in detail about the country’s agricultural development, agricultural loan disbursement activities, and the various innovative and supportive initiatives of Bangladesh Krishi Bank for marginal farmers. The Managing Director of Bangladesh Krishi Bank Sanchia Binte Ali informed the Honorable Prime Minister that, in accordance with his declaration, nearly 52% of the total waived agricultural loans up to BDT 10,000 under the loan waiver programme have been implemented through Bangladesh Krishi Bank. Bangladesh Krishi Bank has financed 40% of the country’s total agricultural loans, and in 2025, and it collected approximately USD 3.13 billion in foreign remittances, securing the second highest position among all banks in the country. It will be increased to USD 4.00 billion in the current fiscal year. She also stated that they remain motivated and uphold the principle of “Bangladesh First” and will continue to move forward accordingly. During the visit, the Honorable Prime Minister expressed deep satisfaction after being apprised of the activities of Bangladesh Krishi Bank and expressed hope that the bank will continue such initiatives for the welfare of agriculture and farmers, including remittance collection. At that time deputy managing directors of Bangladesh Krishi Bank, Md. Abdur Rahim and Mohd. Khaleduzzaman along with the general manager of Dhaka Division and other senior officials were present on this occasion.
