Great gathering of harmony held in shalla, sunamganj

Md Faruk  Sunamganj Dirai–Shalla Correspondent : A large gathering promoting communal harmony and social unity was held in Shalla upazila of Sunamganj on February 5, 2026. The event brought together members of the Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, and Christian communities, highlighting a strong message of peace, coexistence, and human values.

Prominent lawyer Md Shishir Monir attended the gathering as the chief guest. The rally was organized under the slogan, “Introduce yourself through words, not deeds, emphasizing mutual respect, dialogue, and understanding among different communities. Speakers at the event noted that Bangladesh has historically been a place where people of all faiths have lived together in harmony.

Addressing the gathering, Md Shishir Monir described it as a rare and exemplary expression of love and unity, stating that such initiatives are essential for safeguarding communal harmony in the country. Religious leaders from various faiths including imams from the Muslim community and priests from the Hindu community also spoke, stressing the importance of tolerance, unity, and peaceful coexistence.

People from all walks of life participated in the event, including persons with disabilities, teachers and students, fishermen, farmers, laborers, businessmen, and local residents. Men and women from different communities joined spontaneously, turning the gathering into a vibrant and inclusive social meeting.

Speakers unanimously emphasized that although religions may differ, humanity must come first. They said that unity, rather than division, is the driving force for social progress and national development. They also highlighted that harmony should be reflected not only in words but also in actions.

The gathering concluded peacefully, with participants expressing their commitment to continuing such initiatives in the future to strengthen communal harmony and reconciliation across the region.
