The country’s first fixed wireless access service GP-Fi has officially started its journey. This allows high-speed wireless broadband internet service to be available at home. A modern WiFi router wirelessly connected to the nearest tower will give GPIFI users a reliable high-speed Internet connection at home, office, or business nationwide. The service was inaugurated by State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak at a hotel in the capital on July 15. Palak said, ‘GPify Unlimited’ has the potential to change the digital landscape of Bangladesh. A router capable of connecting 10 devices through WiFi will cost 4 thousand taka and a router capable of connecting up to 30 devices will cost 7 thousand 500 taka.
BTRC Chairman Engineer Mohiuddin Ahmed, Director General Brigadier General Mustafizur Rahman, and others were present on the occasion. In his speech, the BTRC Chairman said that the new data package is coming soon. He said, not an inch will be given to protect customer interests. The customer will not say, that the phone companies stole the data. At this time, he opined that the digital sector should have tax-free benefits because of providing uninterrupted and promised quality services. In the event, it was informed that the mobile operator will provide a wireless high-speed internet connection under the unified license policy.
