Germany has pledged 600 million euros to Bangladesh for renewable energy, supporting the reform initiatives of the interim government.
On Wednesday (September 18) at the office of the chief adviser in Tejgaon. Achim Troster, the German ambassador in Dhaka, said this promise while meeting with Muhammad Yunus.
Senior Secretary for SDG Affairs Lamiya Morshed, Additional Secretary of ERD Uttam Kumar Karmakar, Director General of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Kazi Russell Pervez and Deputy Chief of Mission of German Embassy Jan Janowski were also present.
The German ambassador said that Germany has a long-standing relationship with Bangladesh. Germany has become one of Bangladesh’s largest development partners in recent years. Already, 50 million Euros has been offered for renewable energy in Bangladesh.
Troster said, Germany will give a loan of 600 million euros to Bangladesh in eight years for renewable energy. This is a privileged program. Bangladesh is one of the handful of countries that have received this project support.
At this time, recalling his long friendship with the German leaders, the Chief Adviser asked for more investment and skills and technology to fight corruption. Muhammad Yunus.
He said that the nation is united behind the students and youth who are ushering in a new era for the country. Now we have to pay attention to their desires. We need to help them become entrepreneurs.
Dr. Yunus told the German ambassador that his interim government is keen to remove any obstacles to German investment in Bangladesh.
The Special Envoy of the Chief Adviser, Lutfe Siddiqui, informed the German Ambassador about the reforms of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority. He said, German and Bangladeshi firms can create green corridor together.
