Nazrul Rajbari correspondent: The police at Goalanda Ghat station in Rajbari have apprehended a suspect named Md. Rakib Hossain (28) in connection with an attack on students involved in the anti-discrimination movement. Rakib Hossain is the son of Abdul Majed Mia from Ambalpur village, located in the Chhota Bhakla union of the Goalanda Ghat police station in Rajbari district, and he is a former president of the Chhota Bhakla union of the banned Chhatra League. He was taken into custody from Ambalpur within the Goalanda Ghat police station at 3:30 PM on Saturday (June 28).
Sources from the Goalanda Ghat police station reported that on the afternoon of August 4, leaders and members of the Awami League and its affiliated organizations launched an attack on the workers of the anti-discrimination student movement using various weapons, including gunfire, in the Goalanda Railgate area. Several leaders and activists from the anti-discrimination student movement sustained injuries during this incident. Following this, on December 10, Shariful Islam, the son of Md. Shahjahan from Devgram in Goalanda Upazila and a student at Rajbari Technical School and College, filed a case against 59 individuals, including 3-4 unidentified persons.
Officer-in-Charge of Goalanda Ghat Police Station, Mohammad Rakibul Islam, stated that Police Inspector (Investigation) Uttam Kumar Ghosh, along with the Sangeet Force, registered a case at Goalanda Ghat Police Station on December 10 concerning the attack on the students of the anti-discrimination movement. The suspected perpetrator identified in the investigation of that case, Md. Rakib Hossain, the former president of the Chhota Bhakla Union Chhatra League, has been arrested. He was presented to the Rajbari Court on Sunday morning.
