BM Report: Fazlur Rahman, a legendary entreprenuer and founder of City Group was remembered with respects and prayers on Wednesday.
The major function of the day, his 1st death anniversary, was arranged at City House premises in the city. The congregation for prayers was attended by senior bankers, editors, trade body leaders, business partners of City Group and its employess.
In his short speech before dua and munajat, Md. Hasan, Managing Director of City Group, told the audiences that their organisation move forward always strictly following philosphy of its founder.
Late Fazlur Rahman founded City Group, one of the largest industrial conglomerates in Bangladesh.
His passing on 25th of December in 2023, marked the end of an era, but his legacy continues to inspire the organization, its employees, business partners and the nation.
A towering figure in Bangladesh’s industrial landscape, Fazlur Rahman, passed away at the age of 77 in Dhaka this day last year after battling respiratory illnesses. His contributions to the nation’s economy over a span of five decades left an indelible mark, earning him admiration across business, political, and social spheres.
A Life of Dedication and Leadership
Born with an entrepreneurial spirit, Fazlur Rahman laid the foundation of City Group in 1972 with a mustard oil crushing mill. Over the years, his vision and relentless efforts turned the company into a diversified conglomerate with over 40 enterprises. From flour and sugar to edible oil, feed, and rice milling. The group now plays a vital role in ensuring food security and industrial employments in Bangladesh.
Today, the company employs more than 30,000 people and generates an annual turnover of nearly $2.5 billion, solidifying its status as a cornerstone of the nation’s economy.
