Dinajpur Correspondent: Rafiqul Islam, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Ghoraghat in Dinajpur, has been transferred. His replacement, Ms. Rubana Tanzin, officially took charge today (2 December). She previously served as Senior Assistant Commissioner at the Cumilla Deputy Commissioner’s Office.

Since joining Ghoraghat as UNO on 5 November 2023, Rafiqul Islam became known as an education-friendly officer through his active contribution to the education sector, local administration, service delivery, and public welfare initiatives. During his tenure, he launched various development activities, including frequent visits to educational institutions, taking classes for students himself, and responding quickly to local issues—earning widespread appreciation in the upazila.

With the arrival of the new UNO, local residents and the administration are expressing renewed hopes and expectations.

Meanwhile, Rafiqul Islam’s departure has stirred strong emotions among the upazila administration, public representatives, and the conscious community. Never before in the history of Ghoraghat has a UNO’s transfer prompted such sentiment among residents. Many believe his dedicated service will leave a lasting positive impact on Ghoraghat.

Notably, a circular issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on 26 November 2025 reassigned him along with 166 other officials. He will now assume duties as Deputy Director at the Export Promotion Bureau.
