Imran, Jhenaidah Correspondent: Demanding the implementation of the recruitment rules, employees of the Directorate of Family Planning in Jhenaidah have begun a 10-day work abstention. Starting Tuesday morning, Family Welfare Inspectors, Family Planning Inspectors, and Family Welfare Assistants staged a sit-in and work stoppage at the Sadar Upazila office as well as in other upazilas.
The protesters also announced that they would boycott Family Planning Service and Promotion Week while continuing their work abstention. During the demonstration, Family Welfare Assistant Rehana Parvin, Keya Rani Pramanik, Inspector Ziaur Rahman, and Family Welfare Inspector Archana Rani Biswas, among others, delivered speeches.
Speakers said that family welfare workers provide essential services such as maternal healthcare, adolescent reproductive healthcare, nutrition services, and immunisation programs. Yet, despite being in revenue-sector jobs, they are not receiving any promotions. They demanded the immediate implementation of the Recruitment Rules 2024.
The work abstention, which began on Tuesday, will continue until 11 December.
