EU ambassador in Dhaka, Bernad Spanier, said that the European Union (EU) stands by Bangladesh in times of crisis. Our friendship with the interim government will remain intact.
He said this to the journalists after the first courtesy meeting with M. Touhid Hossain, Foreign Affairs Adviser of the Interim Government at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday (August 14) afternoon.
He said that there was a very good discussion with the foreign adviser. We are here today to find out how we can support the Interim Government. We have worked with the interim governments of many countries around the world.
The ambassador said that Bangladesh has opportunities for long-term, medium-term and short-term cooperation.
Many political leaders can seek political asylum in the European Union countries, when asked about the position of the EU, Bernad Spanier said, the European Union does not have consular services. So it will depend on the member country.
He said that there was a very good discussion with the foreign adviser. Labor rights were discussed. Hopefully, the interim government will look into this matter.
The EU ambassador thanked the government for providing security to diplomatic missions with armed forces.
