ADB promises to stand by the interim government.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has announced that it will support the interim government to continue development in Bangladesh. This information was informed in a press release sent by Gobind Bar, Team Leader of External Affairs of ADB’s Bangladesh Resident Mission on Wednesday (August 14).

Govind Bar said, ADB is fully committed to sustainable development of Bangladesh. We support sustainable development along with the aspirations of the people of the country. Our cooperation with the interim government will continue. To ensure continuity of ongoing projects and more inclusive, sustainable development. ADB will continue to help ensure a sustainable future for the people of Bangladesh.

ADB’s main focus is to improve public sector management and governance. Which is all the more important in light of recent events. I will continue to work with the interim government to achieve macro-financial sustainability. This includes a focus on financial consolidation and domestic resource mobilization. The second priority is to expand private sector development to increase competitiveness and create new employment opportunities. I will work with the interim government to reduce the cost of doing business in Bangladesh.

According to ADB, climate change is an important challenge. The Bangladeshi population is increasingly suffering from floods, droughts and extreme heat. ADB will help the interim government build a whole-of-government approach to addressing climate change in its development agenda. This will encourage renewable energy and sustainable growth.

Since 1973, ADB has become a trusted development partner of Bangladesh. During this period, the agency has provided a total of USD 31.8 billion as part of 726 loan projects, grants and technical assistance to the public sector.

“We look forward to continuing this important work with the interim government and the people of Bangladesh,” ADB said in a statement.
