DSE’s Market Capitalization Rockets Up by Tk 20,000 Crore

BM Desk : The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the nation’s main capital market, saw an increase in its index during the week of July 20–24. As a result, during this time, the DSE’s market capitalization increased by Tk 20,509 crore.

This information was revealed in the stock market weekly update report.

The market capitalization of the DSE was Tk 6,87,498 crore at the beginning of the previous week. This sum increased to Tk 7,87,070 crore at the end of the week. As a result, the market capitalization of the DSE increased by Tk 20,509 crore, representing a 2.98 percent weekly gain.

Over the past week, all of the DSE’s indexes have moved upward as well. Additionally, the DSEX, the key pricing index, increased by 259.56 points, or 5.06 percent. Furthermore, the DSES index increased by 52.89 points, or 4.72 percent, while the DSE-30 index increased by 153.11 points, or 7.91 percent.

The DSE’s transaction volume increased in tandem with the index’s growth. Transactions of 4,297.23 crore taka were registered throughout the week, up from 3,408.12 crore taka the week before. This means that in just one week, there was an increase of 889.11 crore taka.

The average number of transactions per working day increased by 26.09 percent, or 177.82 crore taka. While the average daily transactions in the previous week were 6,816.2 lakh taka, the average transactions on the DSE for the current week were 8,594.44 crore taka.

394 businesses’ shares and mutual fund units were traded on the DSE during the week. Of these, 215 companies witnessed price increases, 144 saw price decreases, and 35 businesses saw no change in share prices.
