B Mirror Report: Bangladesh’s stock market rebounded on Wednesday after three consecutive sessions of decline, with the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) broad-based index DSEX gaining 38 points amid higher trading activity.
The DSEX closed at 5,463 points, while the DSE-30 index rose 19 points to 2,096 and the DSES index gained 11 points to 1,086.
Of the 391 issues traded on the DSE, 191 advanced, 134 declined and 66 remained unchanged.
Turnover also increased to Tk 604.83 crore from Tk 564.17 crore in the previous session, up Tk 40.66 crore.
Evince Textiles led the turnover chart with shares worth Tk 38.45 crore changing hands, followed by Paramount Textile at Tk 30.16 crore and Bank Asia at Tk 20.06 crore.
Other companies among the top 10 in turnover were Saiham Textile, Orion Infusion, Sonali Aansh, Matin Spinning, Apex Foods, IPDC Finance and Malek Spinning.
Among companies paying dividends of 10% or more, 108 advanced, 65 declined and 25 remained unchanged. Among medium-category companies paying dividends below 10%, 42 advanced, 23 declined and nine remained unchanged.
Shares of 40 Z-category companies gained, while 46 declined and 32 remained unchanged. Among mutual funds, one advanced, 17 declined and 13 remained unchanged.
At the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), 63 of the 167 traded issues advanced, 85 declined and 19 remained unchanged. The CASPI gained 98 points, while turnover fell to Tk 14.75 crore from Tk 16.64 crore in the previous session.
