B Mirror Report: In a move aimed at strengthening the national capital market, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) has offered dedicated assistance to Chinese companies interested in the listing and investment process in Bangladesh.
The initiative was highlighted during a high-level meeting between DSE management and a 19-member delegation from the Chinese Enterprises Association in Bangladesh (CEAB), held on Thursday at the DSE premises in Dhaka, according to a press release issued on Sunday (April 13).
The meeting focused on strategic planning to make the capital market more investment-friendly and to attract new foreign investors, particularly from China.
CEAB Vice President Ma Ben led the Chinese delegation, while DSE Managing Director Nuzhat Anwar welcomed the delegation and presented the exchange’s vision for modernization and market development.
During the discussions, Nuzhat Anwar said the DSE is currently prioritizing structural development and transformation of the capital market. She added that a new strategic roadmap is being prepared to define the future direction of the market, with special emphasis on engaging Chinese companies for mutual economic benefits.
She further noted that China is expected to play a key role in the DSE’s upcoming five-year development plan. As part of this initiative, the exchange has offered personalized assistance to interested Chinese firms regarding listing procedures and investment facilitation.
CEAB Vice President Ma Ben said Chinese enterprises are expanding their presence in Bangladesh and currently the association represents more than 250 member companies operating in sectors such as trade, infrastructure, information technology, energy, and logistics.
He highlighted the significant contribution of Chinese firms to Bangladesh’s development through major infrastructure projects including power plants, bridges, tunnels, expressways, and sewage treatment systems. He also expressed optimism that 2026 would mark a new phase in strengthening bilateral economic and commercial cooperation.
DSE officials present at the meeting included Chief Operating Officer Mohammad Asadur Rahman, Chief Technology Officer Dr. Md. Ashifur Rahman, and Chief Financial Officer Md. Adib Hossain Khan.
After the meeting, the CEAB delegation visited the DSE Tower’s multipurpose hall and Training Academy.
