DSE Market capitalisation rises by Tk 3,430 Crore

The market capitalisation of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) increased by Tk 3,430 crore during the week amid a broad-based rise in stock indexs according to the latest weekly market update.

DSE’s total market capitalisation rose by 0.50 percent to Tk 6,93,440 crore at the end of the week, up from Tk 6,90,010 crore in the previous week.

All major indices posted gains during the week. The benchmark DSEX index climbed 140.98 points, or 2.55 percent, while the DSES index advanced 70.21 points, or 3.39 percent. The DS30 index also gained 35.82 points, or 3.21 percent.

Despite the rise in market capitalisation and indices, trading turnover on the DSE declined slightly. Total turnover during the week stood at Tk 6,419.21 crore, compared with Tk 6,438.08 crore in the previous week, marking a decrease of Tk 18.87 crore.

Average daily turnover also fell by Tk 3.77 crore, or 0.29 percent, to Tk 1,283.84 crore, down from Tk 1,287.61 crore a week earlier.

A total of 390 companies and mutual fund units were traded on the DSE during the week. Of these, share prices of 222 companies increased, 146 declined, and 22 remained unchanged.

Meanwhile, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also recorded gains in its key indices. The CASPI and CSCX indices rose by 1.04 percent and 0.74 percent, respectively, to 15,354.06 points and 9,389.69 points.

The CSE-30 and CSE-50 indices gained 2.89 percent and 0.57 percent, respectively, while the CSI index fell 2.22 percent to 877.12 points.

Trading turnover on the CSE increased significantly, reaching Tk 216.95 crore during the week, up from Tk 183.02 crore in the previous week, an increase of Tk 33.93 crore.

A total of 330 companies and mutual fund units were traded on the CSE, with prices rising for 194 companies, declining for 111, and remaining unchanged for 25 companies.
