The market capitalization of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) increased by Tk 60.95 billion during the week as Bangladesh’s capital market posted broad-based gains in share prices and trading activity.
According to the DSE’s weekly market report, total market capitalization rose 0.87% to Tk 7.04 trillion at the close of the week, up from Tk 6.98 trillion a week earlier.
All major indices ended the week higher. The benchmark DSEX index gained 60.20 points, or 1.05%, while the DSES index rose 20.18 points (1.73%). The DS30 index added 15.75 points, or 0.73%.
Weekly turnover on the DSE also increased, reaching Tk 69.19 billion, compared with Tk 57.36 billion in the previous week, an increase of Tk 11.84 billion.
However, average daily turnover declined by 3.49% to Tk 13.84 billion, down from Tk 14.34 billion in the preceding week.
A total of 388 listed companies and mutual fund units were traded during the week. Of these, 251 advanced, 122 declined, and 15 remained unchanged.
Meanwhile, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also recorded gains. The CASPI and CSCX indices rose 0.69% and 0.59%, respectively, while the CSE-30 and CSI indices advanced 0.25% and 1.64%. The CSE-50 index was the only major index to decline, slipping 0.09%.
Weekly turnover on the CSE climbed to Tk 1.90 billion, up from Tk 1.71 billion in the previous week. Among the 338 securities traded, 212 gained, 106 lost value, and 20 closed unchanged.
