DSE Ends Week Higher Despite Lower Turnover

The country’s main stock market, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), closed the last working day of the week with a positive momentum in key price indexes, despite a decline in total turnover. Share prices of 170 companies advanced during Thursday’s session.

According to DSE data, on Thursday (27 November), the benchmark index DSEX gained 18.34 points, settling at 5,028 points. The DSES index rose by 6.22 points to reach 1,056 points, while the DS-30, comprising blue-chip stocks, edged up by 7.60 points to stand at 1,934 points.

Turnover, however, fell significantly. Shares and units worth Tk 439.44 crore traded hands, down from Tk 527.87 crore recorded in the previous session.

A total of 379 companies participated in Thursday’s trading. Among them, 170 saw gains, 136 experienced declines, and 73 remained unchanged.

Market analysts noted that the positive index movement indicates renewed investor confidence, even though liquidity remained comparatively lower than the previous day.
