B.Mirror Desk: Dhaka North City Corporation Administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan said on Monday that his organisation is looking to Bashundhara Residential Area as a model for developing a modern, liveable, clean and green city.
He made the remarks while speaking to journalists after a courtesy meeting with Sayem Sobhan Anvir, chairman of Anvir Bashundhara Group (ABG).
The DNCC administrator said various stakeholders have an important role to play in urban development. A liveable and modern city must be built through coordinated efforts and cooperation from all stakeholders.
Anvir Bashundhara Group has also assured the DNCC of its cooperation in urban development. “There are certain stakeholders in urban development. We want to develop the city through coordinated efforts involving everyone. Everyone’s cooperation is necessary to build the city,” he said.
Shafiqul added that city residents want a modern, liveable, clean and green Dhaka. To achieve this goal, the DNCC is working to build a “Clean and Green Dhaka.”
“We want every citizen to be involved in the development of this city. We will present a liveable city in the days ahead. That is our main objective,” the DNCC administrator further said.
Task force to control dengue
Meanwhile, the DNCC administrator said the city corporation had already taken preparations to control dengue.
He said a task force had been formed to contain the dengue situation. At the same time, regular monitoring is being conducted across 10 zones through the city corporation’s health officials.
Mobile courts are also being operated at places where Aedes mosquito larvae are found, he said.
“Wherever we find larvae, including at government offices and other places, we are warning the authorities through mobile courts. The mosquito-control chemicals that need to be applied regularly are also being used according to our plan,” he said.
The administrator claimed that mosquito breedings are currently under better control than at any previous time and that the dengue situation has also remained under control so far this year.
He said dengue hotspots would be identified after the monsoon rains and necessary measures would be taken in those areas.
