B Mirror Report: Bangladesh and Turkiye today reiterated their dedication to enhancing strategic relations as the foreign ministers of both countries held bilateral consultations in Ankara.
The meeting was hosted at the office of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who received Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman. Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humaiun Kabir was also present, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This was the first formal bilateral encounter between the two foreign ministers following the formation of Bangladesh’s newly elected government.
During the discussion, the sides reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral ties and explored avenues to further intensify cooperation in areas of shared interest.
Turkiye reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining cordial and fraternal relations with Bangladesh in both bilateral and multilateral arenas. The Turkish foreign minister also expressed unambiguous support for Bangladesh’s candidacy for the presidency of the forthcoming United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session.
Both parties conveyed confidence that the outcomes of the meeting would foster deeper collaboration and consolidate the strategic partnership between the two nations in the years ahead.
Dr. Khalilur Rahman emphasized the need to boost Turkish investment in Bangladesh and pointed to the potential for expanding the export of skilled Bangladeshi professionals to Turkiye.
Following the meeting, the ministers conducted a joint media briefing, reiterating their commitment to strengthening the longstanding friendly and fraternal bonds between the two countries.
They also exchanged perspectives on regional and international matters, including the situation in Gaza, and reaffirmed their shared dedication to support peace initiatives.
To promote institutional collaboration in diplomatic training and capacity building, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked between the Diplomacy Academy of Turkiye and the Bangladesh Foreign Service Academy.
In the evening, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan hosted an iftar and working dinner for the Bangladeshi delegation, where discussions on bilateral cooperation continued in a more informal setting.
