“The country’s balance of payments will be normalized by June,” commented State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu, MP.
He made this declaration on Sunday at the Bangladesh Secretariat during a courtesy call with Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury (Parvez), President, Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI),.
BCI President congratulated the Minister of State for Commerce and said, we believe that the price of goods will be under control in the upcoming month of Ramadan due to the success of various initiatives of the Minister of State in controlling the country’s commodity prices.
“The industrial sector is facing challenges due to high inflation, low gas pressure, high loan interest rates, and insufficient support from banks. The government aims to reduce inflation to 6%, but the contractionary policy of Bangladesh Bank may lead to a liquidity crisis, reducing new investment and increasing unemployment. Maintaining industry cash flow is crucial to keep industries alive,” BCI stated.
After a long discussion, the state minister said that the country’s balance of payments will return to normal by June. The liquidity crunch for the industry may not be as great as it is thought to be. Trying to create a fund of 5 billion dollars in overseas funds for my export oriented industry.
In order to bring the industrial workers of Dhaka and the adjacent industrial districts under social protection as a pilot project, Mr. Titu solicited the public’s assistance in initiatives like offering 5–6 daily products at a fair price through TCB.
Preeti Chakraborty, senior vice president of BCI, Vice President Mohammad Yunus, Shahidul Islam Niru, Pobichalkvarg, Dr. Delwar Hossain Raja, Abul Kalam Bhuiyan, and senior secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh of the Ministry of Commerce were in attendance at the meeting.
