Coast Guard seizes 24.9 Kg of cannabis in Bhola

BM Report:

In a successful operation, the Bangladesh Coast Guard seized 24.9 kilograms of cannabis in Lalmohan, Bhola on Monday afternoon.

Acting on a tip-off, a contingent led by Commander M. Muztaba, PO (Med), of the BCG Outpost Lalmohan under the South Zone of Bangladesh Coast Guard conducted a special operation in the Debir Char area adjacent to the Tetilia River in Lalmohan Upazila, Bhola District.

During the operation, a suspicious wooden boat was signaled to stop for a search. Sensing the presence of the Coast Guard, the suspects tried to flee. The Coast Guard team chased the boat, and the suspects abandoned it on the riverbank in the Debir Char area and escaped.

Upon searching the boat, 24.9 kilograms of cannabis were found cleverly hidden under fishing nets inside the boat.

The seized cannabis was handed over to Lalmohan Police Station for further legal action.

Lieutenant Commander Khandaker Munif Taqi, Media Officer at the Coast Guard Headquarters, confirmed the incident.

This operation demonstrates the Coast Guard’s vigilance in combating drug trafficking and its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the country’s waterways.
