B Mirror Report: The government has increased the daily closure hours for CNG filling stations during Ramadan to secure sufficient gas supply for electricity production at Iftar.
According to a notice released on Friday by the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, all CNG stations will remain closed from 3:00pm to 9:00pm every day starting from the first day of Ramadan until March 14.
Earlier, the stations were closed for three hours daily, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. The revised directive extends the shutdown period to six hours.
Officials stated that the move aims to tackle low pressure in the gas distribution network and guarantee uninterrupted gas supply during Iftar, when demand rises significantly.
However, CNG and fuel stations will operate 24 hours a day from March 15 to March 25 in preparation for Eid-ul-Fitr. Authorities emphasized that continuous fuel availability during this period is necessary to facilitate smooth passenger travel on highways.
Beginning March 26, CNG stations will revert to their regular schedule, closing daily from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.
