Chartered Life Insurance Company PLC, one of Bangladesh’s leading life insurers, held its 13th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Monday at the Gulshan Shooting Club, approving a 4% dividend for the year ended 2025.
The AGM was held in a hybrid format and chaired by the company’s Chairman, Engineer Md Nurul Akhtar. Other board members, shareholders, acting CEO Mohammad Emdad Ullah and senior officials of the company were present at the meeting. Company Secretary GM Rashed, ACS, conducted the AGM.
Shareholders unanimously approved the 4% dividend for 2025. They also approved the company’s audited financial statements for the year, appointment of auditors for the 2026 financial year, election of directors and other agenda items.
Speaking at the AGM, Chairman Md Nurul Akhtar said the life insurance sector has significant growth potential, noting that insurance penetration in Bangladesh remains very low. Increasing penetration, he said, could enable the sector to make a greater contribution to the country’s GDP.
He said the board and management are working jointly to fully digitalise Chartered Life Insurance by 2030 and establish the company as a leading player in the insurance industry.
Acting CEO Mohammad Emdad Ullah said Chartered Life Insurance settles claims within three to five days at the latest, while its claim settlement rate stood at 99.08% in 2025.
He said the company has maintained full compliance and corporate governance standards and received the 12th ICSI National Award. The company has also secured an “AA” long-term credit rating and an “ST-1” short-term rating.
He added that the company has undertaken various initiatives to build an efficient sales team as part of its efforts to achieve its “Vision 2030”.
The acting CEO thanked the shareholders for their continued support and expressed optimism about sustaining the company’s growth in the coming years.
