Capital market future on investor confidence: DSE director

The future of the capital market depends on the confidence of investors. The main strength of this market is the investors. Only if their confidence can be restored can the market be stable. For this, investors need to be encouraged, said Minhaj Mannan Emon, Director of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).

He said these things at the certificate distribution ceremony on the concluding day of the 4-day training workshop titled ‘Compliance and Interacting Issues for the TREC Holders’ organized by the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) Training Academy today.

The DSE Director said that in this regard, the CEO, CFO, Compliance Officer and Authorized Representatives of the brokerage house have a very important role. In particular, the transactions have to be completed by properly following all the compliance instructions of the authorized representatives. You are the main supporting force of the market.

He also said that the capital market in Bangladesh has not grown in coordination with the overall economy. Several positive steps have already been taken. One of these is that no bad IPOs come to the market. The government has taken several steps to develop the economy, including stopping money laundering and defaulting on loans if the loan installment is not paid within the specified time. We are hopeful that the government will soon pay more attention to the capital market. Minhaj Mannan said that the ability to analyze financial reports is very important for an investor. Investors can benefit if they invest only considering the financial condition of the company. On the other hand, the transparency of the financial reports of the companies must be ensured. For this, audit firms have to play a key role. In addition, companies must publish international standard financial reports so that investors can easily understand them. Since the scope of our capital market is small, many rumors exist in the market. Therefore, he urged the trainees to complete transactions with caution. Because if the rules and regulations are followed properly, the confidence of investors remains unwavering. In the training workshop, senior officials of BSEC and DSE discussed various compliance issues, Securities and Exchange Commission (Stock Dealers, Stock Brokers and Authorized Representatives) Rules 2000, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (Trading Right Entitlement Certificate) Rules 2020, Dhaka Stock Exchange (Administration of Trading Right Entitlement Certificate) Regulations, Securities and Exchange Ordinance 1969, Financial Statement and Compliance Essentials, Duties and Responsibilities of Trackholder Companies, Back Office Operations and Maintenance of Consolidated Customer Accounts of Trackholder Companies, Compliance Required in the Field of Surveillance, DSE Automated Trading Regulations, 1999 Compliance, Mobile App Features and Dhaka Stock He discussed the necessary compliance of the Exchange (Settlement of Transactions) Regulations, 2013 and the Dhaka Stock Exchange (Trackholders’ Margin Regulations, 2013). DSE Acting Chief Operating Officer Md. Chamiul Islam and Deputy General Manager and Head of DSE Training Academy Syed Al Amin Rahman were present on the occasion.
