CA wants Hasina to be brought to Bangladesh to face trial

Sheikh Hasina, the ousted prime minister, should be sent back to Bangladesh from India to stand justice for “the kind of crimes she has done,” according to the main adviser of the country’s interim government.
In an interview with the Indian news agency PTI in Dhaka, Prof. Muhammad Yunus stated that the interim administration is dedicated to providing justice for the people of Bangladesh in response to the crimes.
Indeed, her return is necessary to ensure peace for the people of Bangladesh. She must stand trial in front of everyone here for the atrocities she has committed. He claimed that Hasina’s political statements from India are a “unfriendly gesture” and that she should keep quiet until Dhaka asks her repatriation in order to avoid upsetting both nations.

“If India intends to retain her until the Bangladeshi government requests her return, the stipulation is that she must remain silent,” PTI reported Prof Yunus as stating.

“No one in India is at ease with her position there because we wish to have her back for a trial. She is currently in India and occasionally speaking, which poses a problem. If she had remained silent, we would have moved on; people would have forgotten her as she would have been in her own sphere. However, by speaking and issuing directives from India, she is not well-received,” he remarked.

Prof Yunus seemingly referred to Hasina’s remarks on August 13, where she called for “justice,” insisting that those responsible for recent “terror acts,” murders, and vandalism must be investigated, identified, and held accountable.

“It is detrimental for both us and India. There is unease surrounding this issue,” he added.

When asked if Bangladesh has communicated its position to India, the chief adviser confirmed that it has been conveyed verbally and quite assertively that she should remain silent.

“Everyone comprehends this. We have firmly stated that she should keep quiet. This is an unfriendly act towards us; she has found refuge there and is campaigning from that location. It is not as if she has gone there under normal circumstances. She has escaped due to a popular uprising and public discontent.”

The Nobel laureate emphasized that while Bangladesh cherishes its strong relationship with India, New Delhi must transcend the narrative that depicts every political party other than the Awami League as Islamist and suggests that the country would devolve into Afghanistan without Sheikh Hasina.

“The problem of attempting to depict minorities’ circumstances in such a significant manner is only an excuse.”
In response to a question regarding how to strengthen India-Bangladesh relations, the main adviser stated that cooperation is required and that the relationship is currently deteriorating. “To fix this relationship, which is currently at a low point, we must cooperate.”
Speaking on the future of bilateral agreements with India, Prof. Yunus stated that calls have been made to reconsider several of the agreements, including the Adani power project and transit.

Everyone agrees that it is necessary. We’ll examine what is documented and, second, what is taking place in reality. I am unable to provide a particular response. If a review is necessary, we will then raise questions about it,” he said.
