BM Desk:

Hasina Momtaz (79), mother of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Chairman Professor Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam passed away on Sunday evening.

The then Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud conferred lifetime achievement award (Ajibon Sammanona Puroskar) to singer Hasina Momtaz on 1 April 2022.

Hasina Momtaz received the honor in acknowledgment of her unique contribution—through her songs—to the enhancement of Bangladesh’s cultural legacy.

In her day, Hasina Momtaz was a well-known vocalist. Her songs captured the hearts of many. Rafiqul Islam, the late husband of Hasina Momtaz, was a well-known banker.

During the 1971 Liberation War, Hasina Momtaz’s songs galvanized patriotic masses and freedom warriors.
