Jahirul Patuakhali Correspondent:  A cleaning initiative took place in the Old Adalatpara region of Patuakhali Sadar Upazila as part of the ‘Climate Change and Health Project’.

The event was organized on Thursday (July 24) at 10 am under the BRAC Health Program to enhance local awareness by identifying and eliminating Aide’s mosquito breeding sites to address the current dengue crisis.

Patuakhali Municipality Administrator Jewel Rana attended the event as the chief guest. Special guests included Patuakhali District Civil Surgeon Dr. Khaledur Rahman and District Press Club President Mohammad Anwar Hossain.

Various officials from BRAC’s central and district levels were also present at the campaign. Key attendees included Md. Rafiqul Islam, Senior Specialist (Monitoring and Evaluation) from the head office, Ishrat Jahan, Entomologist from the head office, Md. Nefazuddin, District Coordinator of BRAC Patuakhali, Md. Abbas Ali, District Manager (BRAC Health Program), Md. Debashish Halder, Regional Manager (Gender Justice and Diversity Program), Sanjay Kumar Biswas, Area Manager (Health Program), Md. Karbi Kanan Shishir, Officer (Climate Change and Health Project), and Md. Shahin Mia, Program Organizer (Health Program, Sadar).

As per BRAC sources, this initiative will extend beyond Sadar Upazila; cleaning campaigns will be rolled out in all eight upazilas of the district in phases under the ‘Climate Change and Health Project’.

In addition to cleanliness efforts, public awareness making was also carried out as part of the campaign.
