BGMEA launches podcast series to highlight RMG industry

B Mirror Report:  The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has launched a podcast series for the first time to address key challenges facing the ready-made garment (RMG) sector and broader economic issues of Bangladesh.

According to a press release, the initiative reflects the current BGMEA board’s commitment to improving the industry’s global image and promoting a progressive roadmap for future development.

The podcast series brings together industry leaders, bankers, economists, business executives and policymakers to share insights and recommendations on pressing issues affecting the sector.

Discussions cover important topics such as LDC graduation and its potential impacts, exchange rate fluctuations, and their implications for industrial growth and export competitiveness.

Through these conversations, the initiative aims to provide valuable inputs for policymakers to support more effective and forward-looking decisions in trade, business and economic governance.

A key objective of the series is to address misconceptions surrounding the RMG sector by presenting accurate and balanced perspectives on its operations and contributions.

Although the industry plays a significant role in Bangladesh’s socio-economic development, BGMEA noted that it often faces misunderstandings, which the podcast seeks to clarify through authentic narratives from experts and stakeholders.

BGMEA Vice President (Finance) Mijanur Rahman, Director Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, and Khan Monirul Alam Shuvo, Chair of the Standing Committee on Branding BGMEA, who led the initiative, said the platform will help generate actionable insights on critical industry issues.

They also said the podcast will strengthen the global image of the “Made in Bangladesh” brand by highlighting both challenges and growth potential of the sector.

Officials said the podcast serves as a knowledge-sharing and communication platform, enabling constructive dialogue and policy engagement for the sustainable development of the RMG industry.

Two episodes have already been released, with several more planned covering a wide range of relevant topics. The episodes are being broadcast through BGMEA’s official digital platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, to reach a wider audience.
