BCG seizes 3,350 kg of poisonous jelly-pushed prawns in Keraniganj

BM Report:

Approximately 3 thousand 350 kg of poisonous jelly-pushed prawns were seized in Keraniganj, Dhaka, by the Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG). The media officer of the BCG Headquarters, Lt. Commander Khandaker Munif Taqi, gave this information on Thursday.

“Based on secret information, a special operation was conducted in the area adjacent to Dhaleswari Bridge Toll Plaza at the joint initiative of Bangladesh Coast Guard Station Pagla and the Directorate of Fisheries, Keraniganj, Dhaka, on Thursday at approximately 0320 hours. During the operation, three buses and two trucks bound for Chittagong from Satkhira were searched, and approximately 3,350 (three thousand three hundred and fifty) kg of poisonous jelly-pushed shrimps were seized,” said Munif  Taqi.”As the real owner of the jelly-pushed shrimp could not be found, no one could be arrested. Keraniganj Upazila Assistant Fisheries Officer Md. Ashiq was present on the said expedition.” He added.

The seized jelly-pushed prawns were burned and destroyed in the presence of the Upazila Assistant Fisheries Officer later.
