Panchagarh Correspondent: A public awareness workshop on preventing counterfeit notes was held on Monday at the Upazila Parishad Hall in Tentulia, Panchagarh. The event was organized by Sonali Bank PLC Tentulia Branch under the supervision of Bangladesh Bank.
The program was presided over by Md. Matiar Rahman, Deputy General Manager (In-Charge) of Sonali Bank PLC, Thakurgaon, while SM Akash, Tentulia Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land), attended as the chief guest. SI A. Malek, representative of Tentulia Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge, was the special guest.
Md. Shahidullah, Branch Manager of Sonali Bank PLC Tentulia, moderated the session. The workshop included a presentation by Abdullah Al Mamun, Joint Director of Bangladesh Bank, on various aspects of counterfeit currency, and discussion led by Md. Hasan Ruhi Islam, Additional Director of Bangladesh Bank.
In his speech, the chief guest SM Akash highlighted that Tentulia Upazila, being a border region, faces higher incidents of illegal activities, including the circulation of counterfeit notes. He emphasized the importance of such workshops for businessmen and civil society and suggested organizing similar programs in local markets.
Other speakers included Abdullah Al Mamun, Ahnaf CTI Director, journalist MA Based, and businessmen Anwar Hossain and Taj Uddin. Officials from various banks, local businessmen, public representatives, and freedom fighters participated in the workshop.
The workshop aimed to raise public awareness and strengthen preventive measures against counterfeit currency in the region.
