Baraka Power plant contract expires.

Baraka Power Limited, a listed energy and power sector company, has terminated its power sale agreement for a power plant. The 15-year contract period of this center located in Fenchuganj, Sylhet has expired from today Wednesday (October 23).

According to sources, the production capacity of the discussed gas-based power plant is 51 MW. As per the agreement, the government would buy the power generated from the plant. As the period expires, the government will no longer buy electricity.

The company has applied to the government to renew the contract, Baraka Power said.
