Several domestic companies will work together with US telecom giant Starlink to set up ground earth stations in Bangladesh. As part of this, a delegation of US telecom service providers is currently visiting Bangladesh and several companies have already signed agreements with Starlink to work in joint partnerships.
A press release sent by the press wing of the chief advisor on Saturday said that the partnership includes space allocation, construction assistance and ongoing infrastructure maintenance.
As a result of the visit of the Starlink delegation, Bangladeshi companies have learned about their areas of interest. In some cases, domestic companies will provide assistance using their own resources, while in some cases, Starlink is considering using land in Hi-Tech Park.
Faiz Ahmed Tayyab, special assistant to the chief advisor, said that detailed discussions regarding location and implementation are ongoing.
Faiz Ahmed expressed optimism that Starlink will ensure uninterrupted and high-speed internet in Bangladesh’s urban and remote areas, northern and coastal areas, which will be free from load shedding or natural disasters.
He added, “It will ensure uninterrupted and high-quality services. Since the coverage of telecom-grade fiber networks in Bangladesh is limited and load shedding is still a problem in many remote areas, Starlink will accelerate the daily activities and digital economic initiatives of our entrepreneurs, freelancers, NGOs and SME businessmen.”
He said, “We will continue to try to implement a rational model with Starlink within the next 90 days.”
Principal Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus, in a letter on February 19, invited top US businessman and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk to visit Bangladesh and called for the launch of Starlink satellite services in the country.
Quoting the Chief Advisor, Faiz Ahmed said that through his visit to Bangladesh, he will get the opportunity to meet the youth of the country, who will be one of the main beneficiaries of this cutting-edge technology.
Professor Yunus directed his High Representative Dr. Khalilur Rahman to coordinate closely with the SpaceX team so that the necessary work can be completed for the launch of Starlink in Bangladesh within the next 90 working days.
It is worth noting that on February 13, the Chief Advisor had a long telephone conversation with SpaceX, Tesla and X founder Elon Musk to discuss future cooperation and progress on the launch of Starlink satellite internet services in Bangladesh.
