B Mirror Desk: The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and the US Commercial Counselor held discussions on expanding the US market and strengthening bilateral cooperation in Bangladeshi trade and commerce.
Paul G. Frost, the US Commercial Counselor (Department of Commerce) posted in Dhaka, met with the organization’s administrator Md. Hafizur Rahman at the FBCCI office in Motijheel, Dhaka, on Tuesday (August 19).
Referring to Bangladesh’s ready-made garments as one of the largest markets in the United States, Hafizur Rahman said, “Now is the right time to conclude a bilateral trade agreement to exploit trade potential and supply chain benefits.” He also expressed gratitude to the US government for recently reducing countervailing duties on Bangladeshi products.
On the other hand, Paul G. Frost emphasized the importance of increasing relations and networking between businessmen of the two countries. He called on Bangladeshi entrepreneurs and businessmen to participate in the upcoming US Investment Summit. He also promised to further strengthen the relationship of mutual cooperation along with the development of bilateral trade.
Also present at the meeting were FBCCI Secretary General Md. Alamgir, Head of International Affairs Wing Md. Zafar Iqbal ndc, and Safety Council Head Brigadier General (Retd.) Abu Naeem Md. Shahidullah.
