The Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) has inaugurated a new gate and boundary wall at its headquarters in Agargaon, Dhaka. The gate was inaugurated on Monday morning by UGC Chairman (Additional Charge) Muhammad Alamgir.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Alamgir said that the new gate is a long-awaited initiative to improve the aesthetic appearance of the UGC headquarters. He said that the gate is designed to reflect the UGC’s commitment to transparent oversight of higher education and its efforts to promote and improve the quality of higher education through collaboration with all universities.
Professor Alamgir also said that the current government is implementing a variety of development projects in the Agargaon administrative area. As part of this, the roads in Agargaon have been widened. The new gate and boundary wall have enhanced the beauty of the entrance to the UGC headquarters. He said that the beauty of the new gate will mesmerize viewers as they pass by.
Professor Alamgir further said that the UGC will soon implement a smart pass system. This will further strengthen security at the UGC headquarters.
He thanked the architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders involved in the construction of the gate and boundary wall.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by UGC members Sajjad Hossain, Hasina Khan, Secretary Ferdous Zaman, departmental heads, leaders of the UGC Officers’ Association and Employees’ Union, and officials and employees of various levels.
