Bangladesh, South Korea sign deal to upgrade Railway operations

B Mirror Report: Bangladesh and the Republic of Korea have signed the Record of Discussion (RoD) and Terms of Reference (ToR) for the “Advanced Project of Rolling Stock Operation and Management in Bangladesh,” aimed at improving the safety and transportation capacity of Bangladesh Railway.

The signing took place at the Economic Relations Division (ERD) in Dhaka, according to an ERD press release. Under the agreement, South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) will provide a grant of US$ 3.63 million (around Tk 45.12 crore) for the project.

Implemented by Bangladesh Railway under the Ministry of Railways, the project seeks to enhance infrastructure and operational capabilities, ensuring safer and more efficient rail transport through advanced rolling stock management.

Additional Secretary and Wing Chief of ERD, Mirana Mahrukh, signed the agreement on behalf of Bangladesh, while MOLIT Assistant Minister Seok-gi Kim signed on behalf of South Korea.
