Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali to Present National Budget

Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali is set to present the proposed national budget for the fiscal year 2024-2025 at the Jatiya Sangsad on 6th June 2024, Wednesday. This will mark the country’s 53rd budget and the 25th budget presented by the Awami League government over its six terms.

The tradition of national budget presentation in Bangladesh began in 1972 when Tajuddin Ahmed, the Finance Minister of the post-independence Bangabandhu government, delivered the first budget.

This upcoming budget will be the inaugural budget for the incumbent Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali, who previously served as the Minister for Disaster Management and Relief and the Minister for Foreign Affairs.

AMA Muhith and Saifur Rahman have each presented the highest number of budgets, with Muhith being the first finance minister to present the budget for 10 consecutive fiscal years from 2009 until his retirement.
